Natasha Bieniek (b. 1984, Melbourne) is best-known for her meticulous oil paintings. She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2006 and later received The Nino Sanciolo Art Scholarship to study ancient painting in Florence, Italy.

She is an eleven-time Archibald Prize finalist and in 2016 her portrait of Wendy Whiteley was named highly commended. She has won several art prizes including The Wynne Prize (2015), The Portia Geach Memorial Award (2015) and The Metro Art Award (2012).

Other short-listed prizes include The Sir John Sulman Prize (2024), The Wynne Prize (2019,2020,2024,2025), The Darling Portrait Prize (2020), The Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship (2015), The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize (2012,2013,2014), The John Leslie Art Prize (2018), The Arthur Guy Memorial Prize (2019) The Glover Prize (2017), The Hadley’s Art Prize (2018), The Geelong Contemporary Art Prize (2018,2024), The Bayside Painting Prize (2019,2024), The University of Queensland Self-Portrait Prize (2013) and the Fleurieu Art Prize (2016).

Solo exhibitions have been held at Art Basel Hong Kong, Sydney Contemporary Art Fair (NSW), Linden New Art (Melbourne), The Gippsland Art Gallery (Victoria), Jan Murphy Gallery (Brisbane) and This is No Fantasy (Melbourne). She has been curated into major exhibitions at the Art Gallery of NSW, the National Portrait Gallery (Canberra), the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (Victoria) and the Warrnambool Art Gallery (Victoria).

Bieniek’s paintings are in the collections of The Art Gallery of NSW, The Tweed River Art Gallery, The Art Gallery of Ballarat, The Warrnambool Art Gallery and The Gippsland Art Gallery.
