Fred Fowler’s ‘Come down to us’ presents a group of extraordinarily compelling
paintings that embrace the iconography of a range of histories that combine to make
his ‘floating landscapes’. With his own unique artistic language built upon over the
years, his paintings are a rich tableau of colours, textures, symbolism, mythology
and imagery. The visual frequency and palettes inspired by the colours of the
Australian bush, and symbols that could be the discoveries of archaeological
excavations, combine to create portals or ‘wormholes’ to metaphysical places or
consciousnesses.
